Pat WONG (also known as Flyingpig) is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in the UK. Her artistic practice is primarily focused on exploring communities and investigating the relationship between individuals and urban environments. Most notably, her art project on fish markets has been permanently acquired by the Museum of London. In addition to her artistic endeavours, she is actively involved in art education. She is a visiting lecturer and assistant professor at several art institutions and has established a cross-cultural exchange platform that promotes the use of illustration as a research method in educational practices.
In this art talk, Flyingpig will discuss how she uses illustration as a creative medium to document and interpret the cultural landscape of communities. She will share her distinctive "post-illustration" research approach, which involves critical observation to push the traditional boundaries of illustration. This method combines personal perspectives with broader socio-economic narratives, enabling a profound dialogue between urban spaces and their inhabitants.
